Stäbchen im All

Wie der geneigte Leser sicher aus anderen Medien mitgekriegt hat, befinden sich zur Zeit drei Chinesen im All (und zwar mit Absicht, nicht wegen zu viel Doping beim Stabhochsprung). Des Expats liebste Zeitung, China Daily, berichtet natürlich noch intensiver, auch über die Begeisterung im Westen über den Chinesischen Ausflug ins All. Für alle, die nicht die Musse haben, sich durch die hunderten von Artikeln durchzukämpfen, hier ein paar der wichtigsten Statements des Staatsmediums:
Exploration program has 'Chinese characteristics': Spacemen will feast on haute cuisine: "What do Chinese astronauts eat in space? Not just dehydrated biscuits as many people imagine. They now have choices like shredded pork sauteed with garlic and chili sauce, and grilled beef with spicy sauce. (...) more than 100 varieties of food (...) During the mission, the astronauts will have three meals a day with five dishes on the menu." Das klingt auf jeden Fall besser als beim Spaceshuttle oder bei Lufthansa. Mit dem Garlic kommt in der kleinen Kapsel auch gleich dich Stimmung wie in einem Beijinger Taxi auf - leider kann man im luftleeren Raum nicht Hupen.

"China's Shenzhou VII astronauts will take traditional Chinese medicine in their spaceflight to treat space motion sickness, a doctor with the astronauts training center said on Thursday.
The medicine, prepared in capsule forms, is called "Taikong Yangxin (space heart-nourishing) Capsule". It can be diluted with water and taken to treat motion sickness in the space flight, said Li Yongzhi, director of medical department of the China Astronaut Research and Training Center. "It is made of more than ten types of Chinese herbs, and has proven to be effective in improving the astronauts' cardiovascular conditions," she said." Na, da haben wir ja nochmals Glück gehabt, dass die altvorderen Ärzte und TCM-Begründer auch an die Eventualitäten der Schwerelosigkeit gedacht haben.
Und natürlich sind alle überglücklich, hier ein besonders Schönes Stück investigativen Journalismus':
"It was as if all spring festivals, new years and Christmases had come at once." Schön, dass man da auch auf uns Westler mit Weihnachten Rücksicht nimmt. Spring Festival ist übrigens das Chinesische Neujahr. "Spectators held their breath waiting for that vital moment -- blast off.
And when it arrived, and was successful, there was laughter, hugs, applause and flashlights. The astronauts' brief ceremony earlier in the afternoon, had given way to a genuine party, much like that of a wedding ceremony, where after the formalities, the couple are sent on their way in a limousine with good wishes." Eine gute Party ist eine, die ein fixes Ende hat und wo die Gastgeber nachher möglichst weit weg sind...
"Even with dozens of soldiers trying to clear the crowds, the vehicle carrying the three astronauts to the launch site, had to stop frequently. There were simply too many people -- technicians, relatives, children, reporters, tourists, and soldiers." Nun, hier liest man ausserordentliches - das Militär hat tatsächlich für einen Moment die Kontrolle verloren, muss wohl wirklich eine ziemlich gute Stimmung gewesen sein. Bei "Even with dozens of soldiers trying to clear the crowds" wird einem schnell etwas mulmig, un man denkt an...
"For a moment, it felt like being at Tiananmen Square during..." - Nein, diese Ananalogie können die ja nicht im Ernst bringen - "the 50th Anniversary parade of the People's Republic of China" - doch nicht. Der 50. Jahrestag war übrigens, als entlang der Chang'an den ganzen Tag niemand die Vorhänge öffenen durfte. Und wer die ungewollte Ironie noch nicht mitbekommen hat, dem wird mit einem zweiten, ebenfalls sehr gelungenen Beispiel nachgeholfen: "or amid crowds supporting the Olympic torch relay recently". Na denn. Den hier glaub ich dann schon eher wieder: "Almost everyone took out their cameras and began to make pose."

Den drei Taikonauten wünsche ich weiterhin alles Gute und eine sichere Rückkehr ins Mutterland (und Vorsicht mit dem Knoblauch!).
